All is set for the Imo State Local Government elections taking place today (Saturday, August 25).

According to the state’s Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC), the elections will be the first in seven years with 14 political parties vying for the 27 local government chairmanship positions and 645 councillorship positions at the polls.

The Chairman, Mr Ethelbert Ebebuchi, told journalists on Thursday that the commission was ready and fully equipped to conduct the elections, adding that it will do everything possible to ensure that the exercise was free and fair.
