The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly defiling a two-year-old girl around Agbado/ Ijaiye area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said this on Monday while addressing journalists at the force headquarters.
According to him, the incident occurred when the mother of the victim, left her in the care of the suspect and dashed into the neighbourhood to buy some provisions.
When she returned after a couple of minutes, she noticed her daughter’s discomfort and also noticed she had pains in her pubic region.
After close examination, the mother suspected that the daughter had been raped and immediately reported the case.
Consequently the suspect, who is a commercial bus driver, was arrested on October 24.
According to the police, he is being questioned at the Gender Unit and would be charged to court as soon as doctors turn in their report.
