Professor of Curriculum Studies at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Theresa Kanno, has urged government to always provide a conducive environment for andragogists (adult educators) to perform optimally.

She stated this while delivering the 41st inaugural lecture of the university entitled ‘Overview of Curriculum Process and Andragogical Imperatives for the Effective Teacher’.

According to her, andragogy refers to the methods employed in teaching adults, describing an effective andragogist as one that is able to involve adult learners in the planning and evaluation of their courses or programmes.

The don recommended that learnability of content should be in tandem with the growth of developmental characteristics of the learners, while instructional objectives should always be stated in specific measurable, quantifiable, overt and behavioural terms of the learner.
