Bauchi plans employment of over 10000 workers to replace retirees after 14 years | The Guardian Nigeria News


Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has said that he would engage over 10,000 workers within six months to replace retirees who have exited the workforce over the years.

If executed, the employment will be the only mass employment since the administration of former governor, Isa Yuguda in 2010. Yuguda’s successor Mohammad Abubakar halted any employment in the workforce throughout his tenure and the incumbent governor, Mohammed has vowed to replace those who have exited the system since then with 10,000 new employees.

Bala Mohammed said this at the flag-off of the distribution of the government palliative to cushion the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy, held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.

He said: “At this stage, I want to announce that a directive has already gone to the Head of Service to ensure that all the cadres where our civil servants have already retired, we are going to employ more than 10,000 civil servants…
