Urges Sanwo-Olu to prioritise public interest
Former governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, Funso Doherty, has lamented the mismanagement of the state’s vast resources, stating that it has resulted in a missed opportunity for growth and development.
Doherty, who spoke exclusively with The Guardian, yesterday, likened the situation to the parable of the talents, where Lagos, given 10 talents, only returned with two instead of 10.
He attributed the central challenge in Lagos State to governance, specifically the principal-agent problem, where those in power prioritise vested interests over the permanent interests of the people.
According to Doherty, this has led to ou]tcomes that benefit a select few, rather than the majority.
He said that if Lagos State resources were well-managed, the state would be far ahead of where it is today.
