Worried over the huge ghost workforce in local governments in the state, Governor Abdullahi Sule, has constituted a five-member panel to fish out ghost workers across the 13 local governments in the state.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sule on Public Affairs, comrade Ahemba Peter, made this known at the monthly briefing on Friday in Lafia.

Ahemba said the decision to carry out screening that will determine the true number of workers in the various local governments became necessary to block leakages and enable the local governments to pay the N70,000 minimum wage to staff.

Ahemba, however, stated that the collaboration with the local governments to weed out ghost workers does not translate to an interference with the autonomy of the local governments.
