Man United Promote Fletcher To Solskjaer’s First-Team Coaching Staff


Manchester United have promoted former star Darren Fletcher to Ole Gunnar Solskaer’s first-team coaching staff.  

Fletcher who spent 20 successful years at the club as a player, has joined Solskjaer’s backroom team after impressing in his role with the Under 16s team, which he has held since October.  

Commenting on his appointment, Solskjaer said: “Darren has the United DNA running through his veins and he knows exactly what it takes to be a Manchester United player. 

“He is at the start of his coaching career and his experience both on and off the pitch along with his winning mentality, commitment and hard work will be a great addition to the staff.”

This will be Fletcher’s first senior job in coaching, having only retied back in 2019 after spells at West Brom and Stoke. 

The 36-year-old, who has also worked as a pundit for Sky Sports since hanging up his boots, said: “I am delighted to be returning to the club as a first-team coach.
