Eagles Look To Maintain Unbeaten Run Over Lesotho 


The Super Eagles will round off their 2021 AFCON qualifying campaign on Tuesday, when they host Lesotho inside the refurbished Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

The Eagles clinched qualification for next year’s AFCON on Saturday after Lesotho and Sierra Leone played goalless.

Despite securing the ticket, Gernot Rohr side went on to beat Benin Republic 1-0 thanks to a Paul Onuachu stoppage time goal.

And ahead of Tuesday’s last group game tie in Lagos, Completesports.com’s JAMES AGBEREBI takes a look at the past meetings between the Super Eagles and Lesotho….

Lesotho 0-1 Nigeria (2008 AFCON Qualifiers, First-Leg)

The first ever meeting between the Super Eagles and the Crocodiles of Lesotho was in 2006 in Maseru during the 2008 AFCON qualifiers.

Both Nigeria and Lesotho were drawn in the same group with Uganda and Niger Republic.

And in the first-leg in Maseru, the Eagles won 1-0 thanks to a 49th minute goal scored by Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
