FIFA Warns EPL Clubs Against Blocking Players From National Duty Amid Covid-19 Third Wave

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has appealed to the British Govt and Premier League clubs to allow players from the red-list countries affected by covid-19 to represent their country for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The 20 clubs from the top-flight of English football had on Tuesday agreed not to release their players from featuring in international matches in red-list countries next month.

Nearly 60 players from 19 Premier League clubs are due to travel to 26 red-list countries in September for international matches.

But all the clubs have unanimously decided not to release those players and the clubs’ decision “is strongly supported by the Premier League.”

Under the current rules in the UK, all travellers from red-list countries such as Brazil and Argentina are required 10 days of hotel quarantine.
