Rohr Hails ‘Difficult’ Win Against Cape Verde


Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has saluted his players following their 2-1 away win against Cape Verde on Tuesday, reports

The three-time African champions consolidated their lead at the top of Group C with a hard-fought win achieved in the absence of some key players.

Dylan dos Santos steered the home team in front after 19 minutes.

Victor Osimhen equalised for the Super Eagles in the 29th minute after the goalkeeper punched following a defensive blunder.

Kenny Santos scored an own goal in the 75th minute to hand Super Eagles maximum points in the game.

“The new players have brought in new competition to the first team,”Rohr said after the game.

“We have had (Innocent) Bonke in our scouting team, they did well, we missed harmony in the early moment, but they did a good job.

“It was a difficult game for us, we needed to built a new team, it wasn’t easy, but in Nigeria we have abundant talents.”
