Man, 32, Sentenced to 4 Years Imprisonment For Rape


Thirty-two year old Mohammed Abdul has been sentenced to four years imprisonment without an option of fine by Minna Chief Magistrate Court No. II, David Mark Road, Tunga.

Mohammed Abdul was arraigned in court for unlawful sexual intercourse, an offence punishable under Child Right Act, Section 18 of the Act in Niger State.


He was arrested by the police after deceiving a 24 year old girl friend of his own friend into his room in Bosso, where he forcefully had canal knowledge of her without her consent.

When the charge was read to him by the overseeing Chief Magistrate, Alh Hassan Mohammed, he pleaded guilty.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Sulaiman Mohammed asked the court to summarily try him in accordance to section 157 of the Criminal Procedural Code (CPC).

While convicting him, the judge sentenced him to four years imprisonment without an option of fine with eight strokes of the cane, and to pay the sum of N140, 000 as compensation to the victim.
