The tariff being paid by Nigerians especially those in Lagos state and its environment for electricity to the DisCo’s is expected to reduced this year.

Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) and Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) will be affected by the tariff slash.

The reduction in the tariff is as a result of the Multi-Year Tariff Order (MYTO) which provides a 15-year tariff path for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI). The MYTO is used to set wholesale and retail prices for electricity in the industry by employing a unified way to determine total industry revenue requirement that is tied to measurable performance improvements and standards.

According to the MYTO which was last reviewed in 2015, electricity users in R2SP (Residential and Single Phase) category under IKEDC will pay N18.94/kwph in 2018 as against N21.10 paid in 2017. The tariff cut is across all classes of customers. Check the image below
