Edo Assembly promises speedy hearing on energy theft bill

The Edo State House of Assembly on Friday said it would begin hearing on a bill to check energy theft by electricity customers in the state.

The Speaker, Mr. Kabiru Adjoto, said this at the graduation of 76 graduate trainees and technicians of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company.

Adjoto said that the House had been inundated with complaints over meter bypass and other forms of irregularities committed by some residents across the state.

He lamented that such acts of vandalism were capable of crippling economic activities in the state.

The speaker, however, assured that the bill would be given an accelerated hearing in order to ensure that perpetrators were made to face the law.
