Unemployed graduates, others to benefit from NSIP programmes

The Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme, Mrs. Maryam Uwais, has unveiled a plan to empower over 500,000 unemployed graduates under its N-Power programme.

Uwais, who made this known during an interactive session with journalists on Friday in Lagos, also disclosed that about 5 million school children would enjoy free meals, courtesy of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

She said, “The National Home Grown School Feeding Programme will see about 5 million school children fed with nourishing meals. There are also secondary beneficiaries of the programme, such as the cooks whom we pay directly and farmers who supply the food stuff.”

Stressing the need to empower unemployed graduates and thereby, help them to live above the poverty line, she added, “We need inclusive growth, which will enable economic recovery and growth of the country. We…
