North East: FG, UN inaugurate $1.05bn humanitarian plan

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of National Budget and National Planning and the United Nations, has inaugurated the 2018 Humanitarian Response Plan of $1.05bn for the North East states of the country ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency.

The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, who led the inauguration in Abuja, said that the government would be targeting about 4.1 million people in the six affected states in the humanitarian plan.

Ahmed noted that the 2018 HRP was part of the humanitarian and development strategies encapsulated in the Nigeria Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.

She said, “We are appealing for resources to meet the immediate life-saving needs of nearly 7.7 million people in the three states through a multi-sectoral approach.
