Several members of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State on Monday protested against what they described as imposition of candidates by Governor Abiola Ajimobi ahead of the May 12 local government election in the state.
The aggrieved APC members, who came from all the council areas of the state, stormed the party secretariat in Ibadan with placards that echoed their opposition to the alleged governor’s move.
Some of the inscriptions also attacked the state chairman of the party, Akin Oke. They also promised to resist the move in order to entrench internal democracy in the state chapter of the party.
Some of the inscriptions read, ‘Let there be internal democracy,’ ‘No consensus, we want primary,’ ‘This party belongs to us all,’ ‘Baba Oke, don’t destroy our party’ and ‘Oyegun, please save the soul of the party in Oyo.’
