The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education board has said it spent over N290m on specialised training porgrammes for teachers in public schools in order to boost efficiency and professionalism in the state education sector.
The Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Mr. Boluwaji Ogundare, made this known in Ado-Ekiti while delivering a paper titled, Education as sole human enterprise during the monthly peer review meeting of ministries, departments and agencies with the State Head of Service.
Ogundare said SUBEB had provided instructional materials and basic infrastructure, as well as strengthened its supervisory and monitoring arm.
He said this was to ensure that the entire 8,637 teachers in 898 public primary schools in the 16 local government areas of the state discharged their duties efficiently.
