2019: Dickson warns against abuse of state power

Ahead of the 2019 general elections in the country, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has cautioned political leaders not to use state resources and authority to the detriment of any group or section of the country.

The Governor also emphasized the need for those occupying positions of public trust not to only focus attention on physical development, but to prioritise “intangible ingredients of democracy”, such as transparency and security of lives and property.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Francis Ottah-Agbo, in a statement on Friday, quoted Dickson as making the remarks shortly after receiving the ‘Outstanding Leadership and Good Governance in Accountability Award’ from the DAAR Communications in Abuja.
