The Ebonyi State Police Command on Monday arrested the Coordinator of Ezeukwa Development Centre in the Onicha Local Government Area of the State, Mr. Chukwuma Igwe, for allegedly demolishing a building and fence belonging to a 94-year-old man, Pa Omabe Obini.
The incident, which occurred at Uwani Anike village, was said to have been carried out by nine suspected thugs under the supervision of the coordinator.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Loveth Odah, said Igwe was being interrogated by the police.
He said, “We have arrested one Mr. Chukwuma Igwe in connection with a case of malicious damage; we have commenced investigation into the incident.”
Narrating the incident to newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital, the victim, Obini alleged that suspected thugs in company with Igwe invaded his compound with weapons.
