Magu defends NEMA directors’ suspension – Punch Newspapers

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, on Thursday, defended the suspension of six directors of the National Emergency Management Agency by the Governing Council of the agency.

The council is chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

Magu confirmed that the council acted on the EFCC’s recommendation after investigations into the finances of NEMA produced evidence that the directors had questions to answer.

He explained that the EFCC took the action in a bid to keep the directors away from office and allow its operatives to have unhindered access to vital documents in NEMA.

Magu had appeared before the House of Representatives’ Committee on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness investigating the alleged “Violation of Public Trust in NEMA” in spending of over N17.8bn in the last one year.
