Nigerians on social media have expressed their displeasure that senators cancelled the Wednesday plenary to visit Senator Dino Melaye at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Melaye on Tuesday had escaped from police custody while being taken to Lokoja, Kogi State, and in the process sustained injuries from his scuffle with the officers.

He was thereafter conveyed in an ambulance to Zanklin Hospital, Mabushi, Abuja.  But the police on Tuesday evening stormed the private hospital and evacuated him to the National Hospital, against his doctors’ advice.

While some are sympathetic about his ordeal but angry with the senators for abandoning the progress of the nation for a visit to Melaye, others say the Senators should have done same to Benue residents and other states that have witnessed killings in the recent times.
