Home-based athletes in the country have kicked against the decision of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria to withdraw from the organisation of domestic competitions and focus only on national and international events.
The AFN at its board meeting last week decided that it would gradually withdraw from organising the competitions and focus only on national championships and trials for international competitions.
AFN Technical Director Sunday Adeleye said from the 2019 season, the federation would hands off the organisation of Golden Leagues and other competitions that were not related to national or international competitions.
