An NGO, Women Arise for Change Initiative says the act of vote-buying should be criminalised as it could rob Nigerians of genuine and quality representation in government.
The organisation said that the act could also pose great danger to the nation’s electoral process and democracy.
Women Arise is one of the 54 Election Observation groups accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission to observe the just-concluded 2018 Ekiti governorship election.
Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, President of WA, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Lagos that the act of vote-buying would further subject the nation to ridicule, locally and internationally.
