ASUU condemns LAUTECH neglect – Punch Newspapers

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Calabar Zone, has described the abdication of the responsibility of funding of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomosho by the co-owners, Oyo and Osun states, as the commercialisation of education.

The union, during a press conference in Calabar, Cross River State on Tuesday, said the move should be resisted.

The Calabar Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Dr Aniekan Brown, said commercialising education had negative implication, both in the short and long terms.

Brown, in a statement endorsed by other chairpersons of ASUU from the universities within the zone, said, “It is regrettable that that the institution has become an uncanny and typical metaphor of the neglect of public education in our country Nigeria.
