Victims defrauded of N50m by developer cry for refunds – Punch Newspapers

Hundreds of house seekers allegedly defrauded of over N50m by a Lagos developer, Hakeem Garba, have cried out for help.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Garba allegedly defrauded the victims said to be over 300 with the promise that a house on Mojisola Street, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos, would be immediately completed and given to them.

It was gathered that the suspect convinced the victims to pay in advance under the pretext of speeding up completion of the house.

The house seekers reportedly found out that they had been defrauded when they got to the building on July 23, 2018, and found different tenants in the apartments.

The spokesperson for the group, Richard Ekoro, said Garba told them to come to the house on July 22 to collect keys to their apartments.

He said, “Some made payments for the house in November and December 2017, while some paid for their apartments…
