Benue courts receive 19,412 cases in one legal year – Punch Newspapers

The Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice Adam Onum, on Monday, revealed that the state judiciary within one year, had over 19,412 civil and criminal cases.

Justice Onum disclosed this during the special court session to mark the commencement of the Benue State Judiciary 2018/2019 Legal Year.

Onum, while giving the breakdown, noted that in the last one year, the high court had about 4,808 civil and criminal cases, out of which 1,465 were disposed of while about 2,935 were brought forward to this year.

He also said that at the magistrates’ court; about 7,814 cases were brought forward from the previous year while about 3,750 fresh matters were filed in the year.

He, however, said about 1,465 cases were disposed of just as about 7,860 cases would be attended to in this new year.
