Stocks decline as market capitalisation sheds N46bn – Punch Newspapers

the equities market of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, on Monday, reversed some of the gains it recorded last Friday.

The market capitalisation of listed equities dropped by N46bn at the close of trading on the floor of the Exchange to N11.756tn. It rose to N11.802tn on Friday from N11.690tn on Thursday.

Sell-offs in Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Nestlé Nigeria Plc and Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc further dragged down the market performance as the All Share Index declined by 0.4 per cent to close at 32,201.98 basis points, while the year-to-date loss worsened to –15.9 per cent.

Similarly, activity level weakened as volume and value traded slid by 36.2 per cent and 53.2 per cent to 160.665 million units and N2.152tn, respectively.
