The leading candidates in the Osun governorship election won majority of the votes cast in their respective local government areas on Saturday to justify their popularity and acceptability among their people.

Reports of the votes announced at the polling units by the Independent National Electoral Commission showed that the All Progressives Congress candidate, Gboyega Oyetola whose party maintained stronghold in Osogbo was ahead of others in the state capital.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke also cleared the results of votes cast in most polling units in Ede zone while a former deputy governor of the state, who is the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Iyiola Omisore, was comfortably led others in Ife town and its environs.
