Ibrahim Idris, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has asked Senate President Bukola Saraki to appear at the office of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Abuja, the Federal Capital territory (FCT), over his alleged linkage to the wide-ranging robbery operation that resulted in the death of 33 people in Offa, Kwara State in April.
In a letter dated July 23 and addressed to the Senate President, Idris asked Saraki to show up at IRT’s office at 8am on Tuesday “for further investigation”.
After some of the Offa robbery gang leaders implicated the Senate President in their statements, the Police invited him for questioning in June but later backtracked, saying it was enough for him to respond in writing.
