FUTA Develops Solar Powered Generators — Leadership Newspaper

The Centre for Renewable Energy Technology (CRET) of the Federal University of Technology, Akure(FUTA), has developed Solar Box I and Box 2 powered generators of various capacities which components include Lithium Polymer Battery, Inverter, Change Controller, Socket Outlet, Fuse and Switches can power Television set, fan and a number of bulbs for a minimum of five hours at a go.

Presenting the generators to the University Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph said the idea behind the generator was to alleviate the energy challenge being experienced by Nigerians.

According to him, the Box 1 with a capacity of 120watts with the solar panel and installation is targeted at students and other low income earners, while the Box 2 which is of 200watts with panel and installation is targeted at staff and medium income earners.
