Niger Delta Communities Demand Participation In Petroleum Operations — Leadership Newspaper

Communities in the Niger Delta region under the auspices of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) has called for direct participation in petroleum operations, saying it will eliminate tension in the region.

HOSTCOM National Chairman, Dr Style Benjamin, who made the call while speaking at the inauguration of the new executives of the group in Warrior, Delta State, also called for the payment 10% equity net profit to host communities while sharing the monthly derivation from the federation account.

Benjamin further called on the federal government and the international oil companies (IOCs) to concede 10% equity participation shares to host communities.

The HOSTCOM Chairman said: “In all licenses and leases with five percent coming from federal government, five percent from the oil and gas companies.
