The Anambra Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) says it has deployed 1,000 personnel to strategic areas to ensure hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir festivities in the state.

The NSCDC Commandant, Mr John Ahwen, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Onitsha on Monday that the personnel had been deployed to strategic areas of the state including recreational and event centres.

“We have some of my personnel deployed to the mosque near the Governor’s lodge and others located in towns like Onitsha, Nnewi and Ihiala among other major communities.

“Both covert and personnel in their uniforms are all out in the streets to patrol and ensure that residents enjoy a Sallah devoid of any security situation.”

The commandant urged the residents to move freely during the festivity and shun acts capable of breaching peace in the state.

He also urged members of the public provide any information that would lead to the apprehension of criminals. (NAN)
