PDP Yet To Decide On Convention Venue — Leadership Newspaper

Indications that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is yet to agree on a venue for its October 6 presidential primaries manifested yesterday at the inauguration of the party’s national convention planning committee in Abuja.

This followed a sharp disagreement between the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) Sen Walid Jibrin and the National Working Committee (NWC) over the choice of venue. The party leadership has been split over the choice of venue for the convention as most party stakeholders kicked against the choice of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

However while inaugurating the convention committee led the Delta State governor, Sen Ifeanyi Okowa, the deputy national chairman of PDP,  South, Elder, Yemi Akinwonmi, said, “On the issue of venue, the party set up a committee headed by Ambassador Ibrahim Kazaure, and they went round the South South Zone and South East Zone before coming out with the choice of Port Harcourt for us.
