Ekiti Lawmaker Survives Assassination Attempt — Leadership Newspaper

A member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Michael Adedeji, on Friday morning, was reportedly shot in the head by unknown gunmen.

Adedeji, who is representing Ekiti Southwest constituency II at the Assembly, was shot by his assailants while traveling to Akure, Ondo State capital from Ado Ekiti.

The deputy speaker of the house, Segun Adewumi, told newsmen in Ado Ekiti, that the lawmaker was immediately rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), where he was admitted at the accident and emergency unit for intensive care.

The legislator, who is of PDP extraction, added that the lawmaker was accosted on the road by gunmen and was shot while trying to escape the scene by putting his car in reverse.

“When he was accosted on the way, the lawmaker wanted to flee the scene by putting his car on reverse gear but these evil men opened fire on his vehicle and the bullets hit him on the head.
