Scores Trapped As Uncompleted Building Collapses In Rivers — Leadership Newspaper

Scores of people were suspected trapped yesterday after a seven-story building under construction collapsed in GRA Phase 3, Port Harcourt.

LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered that some of the persons trapped under the rubbles are casual workers at the construction site.

Meanwhile, the River State government said it rescued 11 persons from the rubbles of the collapsed building, having reactivated its emergency services.

The commissioner for Information and Communication, Emma Okah, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said efforts were on to rescue more people.

“I confirm that a private multiple story building under construction at Woji Road, GRA 2 (opposite De Planet Lounge), Port Harcourt has collapsed.

“Cause of collapse is still speculative but River State government has since activated all emergency services to rescue those trapped in the debris.

“As at now, about 11 persons have been rescued alive while efforts have been intensified to rescue the rest. I will keep you…
