Court Remands Businesswoman For Producing Fake Glucose D — Leadership Newspaper

Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded a businesswoman, Gloria Ngozi Odiaka in prison for allegedly packaging and producing G&J Glucose D illegally.

The judge ordered that Mrs. Odiaka be kept in prison after she was arraigned by the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDA) on three count charge of production of fake and adulterated products.

According to the agency, Odiaka, who lived at 10, Visit Fakolujo Close, off Abiola Street, Alapere, Aketi, Lagos State, on March 20, 2018 allegedly packaged G&J Glucose D in a manner that is false and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 5 of the Food and Drug Act CAP F 32, LFN 2004 and punishable under section 17 of the same Act.

The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, a development which made the NAFDAC counsel, Umar Shamaki urged the court for a trial date and that Odiaka be remanded in custody pending her trial.
