The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has organized workshop on fire outbreaks and other forms of domestic and workplace accidents for stakeholders in disaster management
Mallam Imam Garki, head operation Yola office said consultative meeting is aimed at advocating adequate publicity for relevant authorities to raise public awareness on causes and effects disasters for preventive purposes.
Garki also made a case for the installation of extinguishers and other fire fighting items in homes and offices as a way of mitigating effects of fires where they occur.
A communique issued weekend on a stakeholders consultative meeting on disaster management which was held in Mubi, Adamawa State, noted that while a few offices are fitted with fire extinguishers, residential building across the country rarely have such equipment, a situation which the meeting said should change.
