Civil Society Group Hail CBN Governor For Stability In Economy — Leadership Newspaper

As 2018 comes to an end, the Coalition of Civil Society Group, (COCSG), have commended the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele for his policies at the bank, saying the bailouts for states through the CBN has helped them to massively stabilise the economy.

Saying the apex bank Anchor Borrowers’ programme (ABP) has scale down the huge foreign exchange spent by Nigeria on importing food items.

Briefing the press in Abuja at the weekend to close the year 2018 activities, President and Secretary of COCSG, Comrades Etuk Bassey Williams and Abubakar Ibrahim along other members of the Coalition said the continued stemming out of initiatives by the apex bank have been phenomenal.

The Coalition said it had noted the efforts of the bank to boost the availability of forex to end users through banks’ retail outlets as well as the  reduction of the tenor of its forward sales from the hitherto maximum cycle of 180 days, to no more than 60 days from the…
