Uniport Secures Another World Bank Africa Centre Of Excellence — Leadership Newspaper

 The University of Port Harcourt has secured the establishment of a second World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE), which will focus of Public Health and Toxicological Research (PUTOR).

The first ACE to be established in the school by World Bank is the Centre for Oilfield Chemicals Research (CEFOR).

Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ndowa Lale, who disclosed this in his New Year message to management, staff and students of the institution, however expressed regrets that the University lost the bid for a World Bank Centre for Economic Analysis and Training.

Lale said: “I am particularly delighted that we secured another  World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence -this time in Public Health and Toxicological Research.

“We regrettably lost our staunch bid for a World Bank Centre for Economic Analysis and Training, and this is inspire of the quality of our proposal and presentation.”
