Two middle aged women, MoyinOluwa Tewogbola and Bukola Falade were on Friday remanded in prison custody by an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife over alleged N8.9 million fraud.
The women pleaded not guilty to the two count charge preferred against them after they had agreed to be tried in the court.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Bassey Asukwo, told the court that MoyinOluwa Tewogbola (38) and Bukola Falade (38) committed the offence in 2017 at Ile-Ife.
Asukwo said that the accused persons conspired together to commit felony to wit: stealing sum of N8,950,000.
He added that the accused obtained the sum of N8,950,000, from Dr Aramide Kamil with pretence of getting him visa to Canada.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 419 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi, refused the bail of the accused, but asked the defence counsel, Mr Babawale Omodogbe, to come with written application for the consideration of their bail.
