There are strong indications that more members-elect for the 9th House of Representatives have thrown their weight behind the candidature of Hon Ahmed Idris Wase for speaker.
It was learnt that both returning and newly-elected members for the 9th House have declared support for the Plateau-lawmaker, who represents Wase Federal Constituency guy.
A fourth term member, Wase is among the top contenders for the position of speaker, and some lawmakers who spoke with our correspondent, observed that he was much preferred to others who are aspiring for the position.
According to them,” Wase’s leadership qualities, humility and grasp of legislative activities stand him out among the others”.
One of the lawmakers said Wase has all it takes to lead the House peacefully because “he enjoys that support and understanding of almost all returning members.”
It was gathered that even some of the lawmakers that indicated interest to vie for the speaker’s office are ready to step down…
