FUOYE Students Protest Over Power Outage — Leadership Newspaper

Students of Federal University, Oye Ekiti, (FUOYE) Ekiti State, on Wednesday took to the streets to protest incessant power outage in their host community.

The protesting students, who decried poor electricity supply to the area said situation was adversely affecting their studies at the institution.

Armed with the placards with various inscriptions like, “No Light in FUOYE”, “We need electricity in Oye Ekiti”, “power supply is crucial to our studies” the students moved to the office of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) before storming the palace of the Oloye of Oye Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju, to register their displeasure at the situation.

Though officials of the BEDC were not available at their office, they however, told the monarch about their plight for onward transmission to appropriate quarters.
