Take Flood Alert Serious, FG Warns  — Leadership Newspaper

The Federal Government has urged Nigerians, especially those living in flood-prone areas, to take the warnings and information contained in the flood alert 2029, seriously.

Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, gave the warning on Tuesday, during the presentation and launching of the 2019 Annual Flood Outlook (AFO) by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), in Abuja.

At this year’s presentation with the theme, “The Role of Efficient Hydrological Services in National Development “, Adamu stressed that, failure to heed the warning will be tantamount to negligence, the complacency that may result to catastrophic consequences.

The minister stated that the 2019 AFO is an added impetus to the Change Agenda of current administration to better the lives of Nigerians by serving as an early warning to people and communities located in and around flood plains and other vulnerable areas.
