Residents of Shinkafi local government area in Zamfara State have alleged rampant killings and abduction by bandits who have reportedly killed six civilian JTF in a fresh attack.
The council vice chairman, Alhaji Sani Galadima, stated this when the minister of Interior, Lt-Gen. Abdulraham Dambazau visited the area during an assessment tour of Shinkafi local government area.
Galadima said that records had shown that over ninety-eight towns and villages had been sacked by the bandits in the area.
According to him, the presence of the military and other security agencies has not helped matters because they do not respond to distress calls.
He therefore called for more commitment from the authorities to tackle the menace because if unchecked the bandits would overrun more towns and villages in the council.
In his response, Danbazau said that banditry in the state has remained a source of concern to the federal government.
