The House of Representatives has unanimously rejected one of its members, Kingsley Chinda’s call for impeachment processes to commence against President Buhari.

On Sunday, December 6, Chinda who represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in Rivers State at the House of Representatives, released a statement in which he called on Nigerians irrespective of political party, tribe, or religion to compel their representatives to commence the impeachment process against the president. He made the call following the rising cases of insecurity being witnessed across the country.

However, in a statement released by its spokesperson, Benjamin Kalu, the House of Representatives described Chinda’s call as the “opinion of a single member of the opposition party in the house.” The House said the calls for impeachment were not logical as the President is yet to appear before the House to explain what his administration is doing to address the security issue.
