Southern Governors ban of open grazing is of questionable legality

The Presidency has finally reacted to the Southern Governors ban on open grazing in the region. 

The Presidency’s stance on the ban was contained in a statement released by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

According to the presidency, the ban is of “questionable legality given the Constitutional right of all Nigerians to enjoy the same rights and freedoms within every one of our 36 states (and FCT) -regardless of the state of their birth or residence.”

The statement added that the Federal Government would commence partial implementation of the plan to rehabilitate grazing reserves in willing states, starting from June.
