IYC suspends #OccupyNigerDelta protest

The three day #OccupyNigerDelta protest organized by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, has been suspended by leaders of the group. 

 

The protest took off after the group threatened a total shutdown of government activities in the Niger Delta including the closure of the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt and their state offices across the region if the Federal Government fails to reconstitute the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 30 days. 

 

The protest which has been on since Wednesday May 26, was suspended by 5pm on Friday, May 28, 2021, as confirmed in a statement issued by IYC Deputy National President, Comrade Saviour Olali, and the National Spokesman, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe.
