Dariye and Nyame were granted pardon over life-threatening ailment – Presidency

The Presidency has explained the reasons why the pardon request of former Governors Joshua Dariye of Plateau State and Jolly Nyame of Taraba State, was approved by the Council of State.

In a statement released, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said Dariye and Nyame were pardoned due to life-threatening ill-health.

Recall that last week, President Buhari at the Council of State meeting granted presidential pardon to the two former governors who were incarcerated for financial crimes committed while in office. Following the public outcry that greeted the pardon, the presidency has now released a statement explaining why the politicians were granted presidential pardons.
