A medical doctor with Irrua Teaching Specialist Hospital in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Dr Ogbonnanya Chiamaka, has been arrested for alleged child abuse.
The pediatrician was accused of frequently brutalising her 13-year-old maid, sending her out of the house and giving her raw rice as food for one week.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday, June 25.
“Edo state police command is currently interrogating a Medical Doctor, one Dr Ogbonnanya Chiamaka of Irrua Teaching Specialist Hospital , lrrua in Esan Central local government area of Edo state for child abuse,” the statement read.
“The victim, one Miss Comfort Nmeson “F” who is 13 years old came to school, Emando Secondary school in Ekpoma on 22/6/2022 with her belongings, looking frail.
