American rapper, Kodak Black, has been released from jail in Broward County after spending seven months behind bars.

The hip hop star got out on Saturday, August 18, two months earlier than his originally scheduled October release.

Black, while in jail, legally changed his name to Bill K. Kapri and earned his high school equivalency diploma.

Commenting on this name change, Bradford Cohen, Kodak’s attorney, told TMZ in May that his client wanted a “fresh start.”

Black was arrested in January after an Instagram video showed weed close to his child. After police searched his Pembroke Pines home, he was arrested and charged with charged with child neglect, grand theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and marijuana possession.
